Kosher Shift Supervisor
Job Summary
Campus Dining & Hospitality at the University of Colorado, Boulder is seeking a Kosher Shift Supervisor! This is a hands-on culinary role that provides extensive oversight, leadership and input in their assigned dining location and overall dining services when needed. This position will serve as a Mashgiach in the Campus Dining Kosher restaurant and at all Kosher campus events. Additional responsibilities include assigning and delegating standardized recipe preparation, ensuring quality, allergen and food safety requirements are followed in the specific assigned production area. Additionally, they will supervise others in the kitchen which includes creating performance plans for direct reports and/or student staff as well as scheduling for the aforementioned areas based upon organizational needs and staff schedules.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Kitchen Prep/Operation and Production
- Ensure all areas are setup and broken down in accordance with SOP's.
- Maintain equipment, ensuring cleanliness and in excellent condition through personal inspection and places work orders for equipment in need of repair.
- Fulfill and serve hands-on production of menus as assigned by prepping, cooking, baking and otherwise assembling standardized recipes.
- Ensure all food safety monitoring and allergen labeling procedures are followed during schedule shift and determines corrective action when out of compliance.
- Direct work flow of assigned staff and production.
- Make service decisions based on product outages and menu changes.
- Assist with ordering and receiving of product as need.
- Successfully pass food protection manager certification and offers tutoring assistance to staff.
- Understands and ensures all sanitation regulations and safety requirements
- Serves as Mashgiach for Campus Dining Kosher restaurant and all campus Kosher events.
Personnel
- Assist in the culinary staff selection, training and onboarding process.
- Assist in creation of standardized operating procedures and staff training methods.
- Empower others to make decisions in areas within their span of control.
- Ensure employees follow assigned schedule, appropriate break times and follow proper procedures of requesting time off.
- Responsible for performance management of direct reports and holds employees accountable.
- Follows progressive coaching processes and presents staff issues to Executive Culinary Team/HR to assess any needed action.
- Reports workplace injuries and follows departmental HR processes.
- Displays and demonstrates thoughtful and timely communication skills.
Quality Assurance
- Provides and ensures customer service standards are met in assigned functional area.
- Offers recommendations and solutions to the Executive Culinary team to improve daily operations of functional area.
- Actively contributes to menu development with Executive Culinary team, which includes oversight of inventory and recommending purchasing needs specific to the functional area/kitchen needs.
- Serves on the food safety response team and responds to all food safety emergencies as appropriate to the work assignment.

What We Require
- Four years of food service experience. Education may substitute for experience.
- State Food Safety certified and or certificate appropriate for the position level or the ability to obtain State Food Safety certification or certificate appropriate to position level within 6 months of hire.
- Must possess appropriate State Food Safety certification or certificate appropriate to position level for the duration of employment with CDS.
