Offer Description
We are looking for a talented and experienced candidate to help us manage the tasks of the scientific and technical services within the Energy Materials Area. In this position, your key role will be to support the Organization in ensuring that the SCT‑MAE operate safely and efficiently.
Main Responsibilities:
- Perform experimental analyses/measurements and prepare the corresponding result reports.
- Development and commissioning of new equipment/setups.
- Development of measurement procedures.
- Collaborate in the continuous improvement program focused on people’s safety and health through IREC’s inspection and audit plan.
- Collaborate in drafting protocols and work instructions.
- Monitoring and maintenance of laboratory equipment, following an annual plan and schedule, ensuring compliance with Business Activity Coordination requirements.
- Train junior researchers in the use of laboratory equipment.
- Support the management of gas systems, cryogenics, deionized water systems, and vacuum systems.
- Management of laboratory waste.
- Implement occupational risk prevention measures in assigned spaces and collaborate in the center’s Self‑Protection Plan.
- Supervision and control of processes and workspaces, proposing improvements.
- Manage the purchase and replenishment of consumables, including personal protective equipment.
- Maintain order and cleanliness in assigned areas.

Salary will depend on the candidate’s professional experience, in accordance with IREC’s established salary range.

Skills/Qualifications
- University degree in Sciences (Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science, Nanotechnology, Geology, etc.) or Engineering.
- High level of English, Catalan, and Spanish, both spoken and written.
Preferred:
- Experience in research laboratories and their services (consumables, gases, deionized water, cryogenics), resource management, chemical product storage, waste management, consumable purchasing, etc.
- Experience in materials characterization techniques (UV‑Vis‑NIR and IR spectrometry, HPLC, Elemental Analysis, Optical and Electron Microscopy, XRD, surface characterization techniques – physisorption, chemisorption –, TG‑DSC, thermal treatment, particle size).
- Familiarity with research in catalysis, batteries, fuel cells, solar cells, and nanomaterials.
- Training in Occupational Safety and Health (OS&H).
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP).
