Description of Job Duties and Responsibilities

Fairmont State University is seeking a dedicated and reliable Landscape Worker to join our Facilities team. This position plays a vital role in maintaining the beauty, safety, and functionality of the University's grounds.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform landscaping and grounds maintenance, including mowing, trimming, planting, mulching, watering, and weeding.
• Assist with tree and shrub care, including pruning and removal as needed.
• Maintain walkways, parking lots, and outdoor areas by removing debris, snow, and ice.
• Maintain and repair asphalt roads and parking lots, steps, sidewalks, and all other exterior surfaces used for vehicle and pedestrian traffic.
• Operate and maintain landscaping equipment such as mowers, trimmers, blowers, and small tractors. Occasionally operate large equipment such as agricultural tractor or forklift.
• On call for all athletic events to prepare fields, etc.
• Assist with office relocations, special events and removal and disposal of vegetative waste, solid waste, litter and recyclable materials from all campus grounds.
• Assist with campus beautification projects and seasonal plantings.
• Follow all safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe work environment.
• Perform other related duties as assigned to support Facilities operations.

Minimum Required Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Required Licenses and/or Certifications

Valid driver's license.

Minimum Required Qualifications

• Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work in various weather conditions.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong work ethic and reliability.
• Knowledge of landscaping practices and grounds maintenance.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform repetitive physical tasks.
• Good communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with landscaping tools and equipment preferred.
