Location: Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.

Department Information

DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works with clean room and lab staff to identify and resolve equipment deficiencies and coordinates maintenance activities
  • Ensures compliance with safety standards for laboratories and clean rooms
  • Creates and implements preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and enhance system reliability
  • Schedules maintenance tasks to avoid disrupting lab and clean room activities

DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • A strong understanding of clean rooms and HVAC related to laboratory environment
  • Expertise in managing airflows to maintain lab standards

Job Summary

Responsible for all aspects of the installation, maintenance, inspection, operation and repair of the heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems (HVAC). Assists with the supervision of staff.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Inspects buildings, fixtures, machinery, and other structural and/or mechanical systems
  • Assists other technicians on emergency and corrective maintenance
  • Performs independent and high-level complex maintenance work including detection and correction of mechanical systems
  • Performs brazing, soldering, threading, compression joints, flaring, and other methods common to the trade
  • Performs installation or modification work on all building equipment
  • Schedules in-house contracting work for facilities operations projects and repairs
  • Assumes duties and responsibilities during leadership absence
  • Accurately maintains equipment inventory and historical records

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent

Other Required Qualifications

Current, valid and unrestricted driver's license

EPA universal refrigerant certification

Required Experience

Three (3) years related experience

Preferred Qualifications

Additional Preferred Qualifications

ICC Mechanical Inspector Certificate or ICC Plans Examiner Certification (Active)

Experience with Delta Controls and Niagara building automation

Demonstrated experience with clean room protocols and procedures for contamination control

Preferred Educational Qualifications

An undergraduate or advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

ABILITIES

  • Able to diagnose malfunctions and defects in equipment; determine the appropriate corrective measures
  • Able to understand and comply with building, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing codes and other technical standards and specifications as required
  • Able to adapt to changing work environments
  • Able to operate heavy machinery and equipment, i.e., forklifts & manlifts
  • Able to read and interpret blueprints, schematic drawing charts and technical instructions
  • Able to build upon existing knowledge in technical application of maintenance work
  • Able to work with and maintain hand tools in a safe manner
  • Able to use and understand all meters/test equipment related to HVAC, electrical, and plumbing maintenance components
  • Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time meeting assigned deadlines

KNOWLEDGE

  • Knowledge of EPA chemical disposal procedures and documentation
  • Knowledge of the methods, practices, tools, equipment and materials, used in a variety of building and mechanical trades
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and necessary safety precautions in the use of tools and equipment
  • Knowledge of appropriate safety standards
  • Knowledge of American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning (ASHRAE) standards
  • Advanced working knowledge of plumbing and electrical systems

SKILLS

  • Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills
  • Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e. Microsoft Office suite)
  • Strong attention to detail and follow up skills
  • Strong customer service skills, phone and e-mail etiquette
