Location
Our West Campus is located at 2400 Gillionville Road, Albany, GA 31707. Our East Campus is located at 504 College Drive, Albany, GA 31705. The Human Resources office for both campuses is located on the West Campus in Building K, Suite 111.
Job Summary
This part-time position provides subject-matter expert, community, and professional-led tutoring for a variety of courses. This position serves to share knowledge and understanding of course-specific content and relate services to real-world applications, while assisting students in improving academic achievement, supporting students by reviewing and clarifying learning problems, and providing useful study skills and supplemental resource support. Additionally, this position supports practices of supplemental instruction and supports Success Coaches in outreach and retention efforts of students.
Responsibilities
- Conducts face-to-face and online one-on-one, group, and/or drop-in tutoring sessions
- Attend class sessions for co-requisite Math or English to assist students who utilize the centers.
- Communicate effectively with faculty and Academic Support Services on classroom visits.
- Assists students with specific course-related concepts and problems
- Facilitates development of effective, related study skills
- Consults with faculty for course resources, guidance, and direction
- Provides course-related support resources such as handouts, worksheets, or additional learning activities
- Provides resources for midterm and final exam preparation
- Conducts announcements to promote Academic Support Services
- Performs first-line tasks related to retention outreach, tracking, data collection, and reporting, utilizing student information systems (SIS) such as Banner and EAB
- Participates in trainings and regularly scheduled meetings with supervisor
- Performs related duties as assigned
- Works no more than 19 hours per week
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of an associate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field.
- Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the diverse objectives and functions of the subunit in the department in order to coordinate work within the department.

- Knowledge of related subject-matter principles and tutoring strategies
- Knowledge of research formats, classroom practices, teaching methodologies, assessment systems, and educational technology
- Skill in tutoring students face-to-face and in a virtual/online learning environment
- Skill in the operation of computers and job-related software programs
- Skill in timely decision-making and problem-solving
- Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public
- Skill in oral and written communication
