About This Opportunity
Join the UQ Graduate Research School and play a pivotal role in shaping high-quality, future-focused learning experiences for Higher Degree by Research (HDR) candidates and their advisors.
As a Learning Designer, you will design, deliver and continuously enhance evidence-based, blended and online learning offerings that build transferable, research and career-readiness skills across UQ’s HDR community. Working within the Graduate School’s Career Development Framework, you will collaborate closely with academic and professional stakeholders to translate best practice in digital pedagogy and researcher development into engaging, inclusive and scalable learning solutions.
This role offers a unique opportunity to influence the HDR experience at a leading research-intensive university, contributing directly to excellence in research training and supervision while operating within a collaborative, innovative and impact-driven environment.

Key responsibilities will include:
- Design, develop and deliver high-quality, evidence-based learning experiences for HDR candidates and advisors across face-to-face, blended and online modalities, aligned to the Career Development Framework.
- Collaborate with academic, research and professional stakeholders to co-create engaging, inclusive and scalable learning resources that build transferable, research and career-readiness skills.
- Apply contemporary learning design methodologies, digital platforms and quality assurance processes to ensure consistency, accessibility and impact across HDR training offerings.
- Evaluate and continuously improve learning programs using learner feedback, analytics and emerging best practice in digital pedagogy and researcher development.

About You
- A relevant qualification in education, learning design or a related discipline, combined with substantial experience designing and delivering high-quality learning experiences within higher education or a comparable environment.
- Demonstrated expertise in creating engaging, inclusive and pedagogically sound learning solutions across online, blended and face-to-face formats, grounded in evidence-based practice.
- High-level proficiency in contemporary learning design tools and platforms (such as Blackboard, Articulate and H5P), with a strong focus on quality assurance, accessibility and consistency.
- Strong analytical and evaluation capabilities, with the ability to leverage learner feedback, data and insights to drive continuous improvement and enhance program effectiveness.
- A forward-looking approach, with the capability to identify emerging trends in digital learning, researcher development and higher education and translate them into scalable, future-focused solutions.
- A collaborative and adaptable working style, enabling effective partnership with academic and professional stakeholders while also operating confidently in an autonomous capacity.
The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including right to work in Australia and a criminal check.
