Position Summary

The Department of Engineering Education (DEE) at University at Buffalo (UB) invites candidates to apply for the position of Assistant Professor of Teaching (Lecturer) in Technical Communication, a non-tenure track lecturer position. The candidate will join a growing team of technical and professional communication teacher-scholars, who contribute to the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences and the Department of Engineering Education through teaching undergraduate and graduate courses that focus on effective and just communication within STEM fields.

Assistant Professors of Teaching who specialize in technical communication typically:

  • Have a 4/4 teaching load (spring and fall semesters)
  • Formulate and implement student excellence initiatives, ABET objectives, and diversity enhancement
  • Assist in the analysis of student academic progress and retention
  • Contribute to assessment activities
  • Engage in professional development to stay updated on emerging technologies and communication strategies.

Candidates must be committed to engaging in local, regional, and national professional development and possess a strong, genuine interest in general education instruction and assessment.

The selected candidate might have the opportunity to develop and teach undergraduate or graduate courses as the department grows. In addition to effective teachers, the Department of Engineering Education seeks teacher-scholars who can contribute to new programmatic initiatives and teaching practices.
