James Cook University (JCU) is seeking a passionate and skilled Lecturer, Clinical Skills to join our College of Medicine and Dentistry. In this role, you’ll play a key part in delivering high-quality, evidence-based clinical education that prepares our students for safe, effective, and compassionate medical practice.
As part of the Clinical Skills teaching team, you’ll contribute to the design, delivery, and assessment of the Clinical Skills curriculum for the Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) program, with a focus on innovative, simulation-based learning.
What you’ll do
- Develop and deliver engaging Clinical Skills teaching sessions and simulation workshops across Years 1–5 of the MBBS program.
- Contribute to teaching and learning in collaboration with other health disciplines.
- Support the development of a highly skilled health workforce with a focus on rural, remote, Indigenous, and tropical health contexts.
- Inspire and motivate students through interactive and inclusive teaching practices.
- Champion JCU’s values, including our commitment to Reconciliation and sustainability.
About you
- Degree-qualified in a health professional discipline (e.g., medicine, nursing, midwifery, physician assistant).
- Experience in clinical teaching, particularly using simulated patients and low- or high-fidelity simulation.
- A strong interest in rural, remote, Indigenous, and tropical health education.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and organisational skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and willing to engage with educational technologies.
Desirable:
- Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
