Job Summary

The College of Health Science and Public Health invites applications for a full-time Lecturer, 9-month position, in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CMSD) to begin August 16, 2026.

Lecturers must have at least an MA or MS in the area of speech-language pathology, communication sciences and disorders, audiology, or a related area, or an AuD. This individual also must have their Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP or CCC-A) granted by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and a Washington State speech-language pathology (SLP) license or audiology license or be eligible for one. This individual will teach courses in both the undergraduate and graduate programs and teach clinical courses/conduct clinical supervision and may perform service-related activities and scholarly activities if appropriate (not required).

Teaching: This individual will teach courses in both the undergraduate and graduate programs and teach clinical courses/supervision, mentor student research and may perform service-related activities and scholarly activities if appropriate (not required).

The Spokane campus will be the primary work location, but some work time may be spent on the Cheney campus.

The expected salary upon hire is $59,884. In addition to salary, the university offers a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, life and disability insurance and retirement.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in communication sciences and disorders or speech-language pathology or audiology or related area or an AuD at the time of appointment
  • Evidence of clinical experience and supervision and strong potential of successful teaching in at least one of the following areas: voice, phonology/speech sound disorders, dysphagia, audiology, child language is preferred, but other areas of expertise will be considered
  • ASHA CCC-SLP or CCC-A
  • Washington state SLP or AuD licensure or eligible for state licensure
  • Evidence of ability to engage in productive, respectful, collegial relationships with students, faculty and staff
  • Demonstrated ability to apply a responsive and flexible approach that is supportive of the needs including universal access of our students, faculty, staff and the public

Preferred Qualifications

  • Five (5) or more years of clinical experience in a variety of practice areas for children and/or adults
  • One (1) or more years of teaching/supervision experience in a CSD program
  • Working knowledge of both the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) regulations
  • Currency in, and working knowledge of, the profession and the program

Job Duties

Teaching:

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses consistent with expertise and program/departmental instructional needs
  • Clinical education/supervision in area(s) of expertise and supervision of community speech, language and hearing screenings
  • Assure maintenance of clinic-patient files in accordance with HIPAA
  • Manage clinical supervision assignments to assure compliance with accreditation standards
  • Work with the department to build and market specialty clinics
  • Ensure currency of policies and procedures necessary for efficient clinical operations and for the necessary provision of student experiences
  • Provide service to the department, college, university as well as the discipline of communication sciences and disorders
