Starting salary from £48,822 per annum, dependent on skills and experience, with an annual increment up to £56,535 per annum.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lecturer to join the UEA Law School in an Academic, Teaching and Research or Scholarship role (ATR or ATS). We are looking to appoint an individual who can contribute to the teaching of core subjects taught as part of the LLB.

The successful candidate will contribute to teaching Criminal law and at least one other core module on our LLB curriculum. Teaching is a key part of this role and as such you will be expected to contribute to module organisation, planning and assessment, as well as supervising dissertation or PhD students. For ATR, the successful candidate will also undertake research within the framework of the School’s research strategy. This means producing high quality publications, as well as securing research funding, developing research impact, and contributing to the School’s strong research environment. For ATS they will be expected to further develop their expertise in Criminal Law (and any other relevant subjects) through appropriate scholarship activity.

While relevant subject knowledge is essential, for ATR the successful candidate’s research interests and profile do not need to directly align with their teaching responsibilities. A research profile that will contribute to the school’s existing strengths in Competition Law, Public Protest and Policing, or Technology and Intellectual Property Law (broadly defined), would be desirable.

The successful candidate must have a PhD (or equivalent experience) in a relevant subject area or be near completion with submission within six months of commencement of the post. For both ATR or ATS appointment they must also have teaching experience and be able to meet all essential criteria as detailed in the candidate brochure. For ATR only they must also have a strong research profile.

This full-time post is available from 3 August 2026 on an indefinite basis.

Further information on our great benefits package, including 44 days annual leave inclusive of Bank Holidays and additional University Customary days (pro rata for part-time), can be found on our benefits page.

Closing date: 16 April 2026
The University holds an Athena Swan Silver Institutional Award in recognition of our advancement towards gender equality.
