Lecturer in Criminology

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lecturer in Criminology to join the UEA Law School, to contribute to the development and delivery of our new BA Criminology programme (which took its first intake of students in September 2024) and existing LLB Law with Criminology offering.

Teaching is a key part of this role and as such you will be expected to help design and develop new modules, plan and deliver high quality teaching, contribute to the administration of both programmes, and supervise dissertation and PhD students. We welcome applications from candidates who can teach introductory level criminology modules, in addition to expertise in at least one of the following subjects: contemporary perspectives in criminology; youth crime and justice; crimes of the powerful; and/or quantitative methods in criminology.

You must have a PhD in a relevant subject area (or submission within 6 months of employment), or equivalent experience. You will have experience of curriculum development and leadership and providing high quality teaching in Criminology, and will be able to meet all essential criteria as detailed in the candidate brochure.

This full-time post is available from 12 January 2026 on an indefinite basis.

The school is based in our historic Earlham Hall building, which has been significantly renovated and extended to create excellent work and study spaces. This includes a purpose built Law Clinic where free legal advice is provided by our students to some of the most vulnerable in the local community, in partnership with Norfolk Community Law Service.

Further information on our great benefits package, including 44 days annual leave inclusive of Bank Holidays and additional University Customary days (pro rata for part-time), can be found on our benefits page.

Closing date: 4 December 2025

The University holds an Athena Swan Silver Institutional Award in recognition of our advancement towards gender equality.
