About the Role

The Lecturer will contribute to the intellectual life of the Centre for Infection and Immunobiology in the Blizard Institute (and the wider institution) within the research field of Immunology of Infectious Diseases, with a research programme focused on the host response to viral and/or bacterial infections, including post-infectious clinical syndromes. The post-holder will work in the laboratory of Professor Emma Wall and in collaboration with other researchers in the Centre for Immunobiology. They will make contributions to student education and experience through teaching activities in the subject areas of Immunology and Virology. The appointee will be expected to develop their own research projects within the context of the overall research programme and obtain independent research funding to support their research. The appointee will be supported in applying for new grants.

About You

Applicants will have a PhD and postdoctoral research experience in Immunology, Infectious Diseases (Virology) or a related discipline. They will have a proven track record of high-quality research in immunology, including publications in renowned journals clear and ambitious plans for future research. Experience in advanced techniques using multi-cellular experimental models, including spatial tissue analysis and handling clinical specimens is desirable. They will have some experience in laboratory supervision and training, and experience of working in a collaborative research team. They should have demonstrable ability in developing research proposals, bidding for and securing external research funding, and subsequent effective award management skills.

The Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry (FMD) is a significant constituent of Queen Mary University of London. It is organised into 6 separate Institutes, of which the Blizard Institute is one of the largest, with personnel of c420, financial turnover of c£60 million per annum; and research expenditure of over c£20 million per annum.
