Lecturer in Italian

The Department of French and Italian has an occasional curricular need to appoint Lecturers in Italian to teach a range of courses in language and culture in a dynamic undergraduate program committed to innovation, excellence, and inclusivity, and accepts applications in advance in the event the occasion arises where such lecturers are needed. Such positions would require teaching courses and/or course sections (including precepts), grading student work, and holding weekly office hours. Any appointments and duty time are subject to enrollments and departmental need, and available position(s) are expected to begin September 1, 2025, or January 16, 2026. Review of applications will begin July 17, 2025, and continue until any available position(s) are filled.

Essential qualifications: Native or near-native fluency in Italian and English, proven experience teaching Italian as a Foreign Language at the university level, and experience in program and curricular development is highly desirable. Master's degree or enrollment in a Ph.D. program required; Ph.D. preferred. Experience in culture-based instruction, integration of new technologies and curriculum development. Preference will be given to candidates with a background in Italian as a Foreign Language and/or Linguistics, SLA or Applied Linguistics, although other fields will be considered.

Complete contact information for two additional professional references (to be submitted by applicant).

These positions are subject to the University's background check policy. The work location for these positions is in-person on campus at Princeton University.

Expected Salary Range: $81,700 - $87,000

The University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's qualifications, work experience, education/training, key skills, market, collective bargaining agreements as applicable, and organizational considerations when extending an offer. The posted salary range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate for a full-time position; salaries for part-time positions are pro-rated accordingly.
