Description

The Department of Religion may have a need for one or more positions at the rank of Lecturer in Religion, Ethics, and Politics and/or Philosophy and Religion for the 2026–2027 academic year. The area of expertise is open, but we especially welcome candidates whose interests complement the department's current faculty in these subfields. While duty time and appointment length will be based on student enrollments and curricular need, we expect to fill at least one full-time position. Responsibilities would include teaching up to four courses over two semesters in the Department of Religion at the undergraduate level, and preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate an ability to teach an undergraduate survey course such as "Religion and its Modern Critics."

Applications are welcome from candidates who have or expect to have a Ph.D. by the start date of September 1, 2026. Applications should include: (1) a cover letter explaining the candidate's qualifications and teaching experience; (2) a current curriculum vitae; (3) a sample course syllabus; and (4) the names and contact information for three references. Only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted. No letters of recommendation are required at this time.

For fullest consideration, interested candidates should apply by April 1, 2026.

This position is subject to the University's background check policy. The work location for this position is in-person on campus at Princeton University. Term positions of one year or less are not eligible for sponsorship of an H-1B visa requiring consular processing.
