Department Description: Languages, Cultures and Literatures at USD is committed to shaping the next generation of global citizens through the development of students' communicative and linguistic proficiency, intercultural competency and skills in critical thinking through the study of languages, literatures and other forms of cultural production.
Duties and Responsibilities: These are part-time, non-benefits-based positions, beginning in Fall 2026. The course load in Fall 2026 is 1-2 courses (i.e. 3-6 units), with a possibility of additional courses in Spring 2027, depending on enrollment needs. Classes are taught Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

Degree Verification Requirement: Persons offered employment in this position will be required to provide official education transcripts for degree verification purposes.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Have native or near-native fluency in Italian, hold an MA or PhD in Italian or a related field (e.g. second language acquisition, linguistics)
- Demonstrate experience with language teaching and/or teaching at the college or university level.
Compensation: Compensation for this position will be paid on a bi-weekly basis at a per-unit rate of $2,581-$2,659, commensurate with qualifications.
The salary range provided in this posting reflects what we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Actual compensation offered or earned is dependent on experience, education and other factors including departmental budget.
