About the Role:

Join Curtin University as a Lecturer in the Laboratory Medicine department for a fixed-term contract lasting until the 2nd of February 2031, part-time position (0.4 FTE, two days per week).

In this pivotal role, you will play a key part in teaching, assessing, and coordinating Haematology units across all three years of the B-LAMBED program, while also contributing to other units as needed.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Teaching and Learning

  • Delivering engaging, high-quality instruction across online, blended, and face-to-face settings, and collaborating to design innovative curricula and learning materials.
  • Assessing student learning, providing timely and constructive feedback.
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of discipline theory and educational practices, participating in ongoing professional development, and driving curriculum innovation.
  • Managing administrative aspects of teaching, including moderation and assessment of student work, planning research-informed learning activities, and supporting course teams in curriculum and resource development.

Selection Criteria

Who we are looking for:

  1. A doctoral qualification in a relevant discipline (or equivalent accreditation and professional standing for Teaching Focused Clinical Professional role).
  2. Recent demonstration of high-level teaching skills in introductory through advanced haematology, with a focus on both general haematology and transfusion science, and in other discipline(s) specific to Laboratory Medicine, and a demonstrated reflective approach to teaching delivery.
  3. Recent experience in working in a contemporary diagnostic pathology laboratory.
  4. A strong understanding of pedagogical theory and contemporary educational practice relevant to the discipline.
  5. Demonstrated experience / capacity to undertake unit coordination.
  6. Demonstrated high level communication and interpersonal and organisational skills with a commitment to the development of a collegial and supportive working environment and the ability to interact with students and staff with cross cultural sensitivity.
  7. Demonstrated commitment to the application of relevant and applicable policies, procedures and legislation in the day-to-day performance of the functions of this position

Role Requirements:

  • As this is a fixed-term contract, you will require current work rights in Australia that match the tenure of this role.
