Position Title: Lecturer, Nursing (Non-tenure track)

Department: Elizabeth T. MacNeil School of Nursing

Reports To: Executive Director of Nursing

Location: On-campus (River Forest, IL)

Position Summary:

The Lecturer is a full-time, non-tenure track faculty position beginning August 15, 2025. The successful candidate will become a vital member of the faculty team committed to excellence and innovation in teaching, scholarship, and service while upholding Dominican University's mission and values.

The candidate is expected to teach twelve (12) credit hours per semester. Additionally, as a Lecturer, responsibilities include scholarship and service to the department, college, and university-level committees, discipline-specific professional organizations, and community service.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide exemplary instruction in the didactic, simulation lab, and clinical areas of teaching.
• Assist with curriculum development, implementation, and systematic evaluation planning.
• Participate in recruitment, retention, and successful progression of students within the program.
• Assist with developing and implementing admission, progression, and graduation policies.
• Participate in mentoring, advising, and registering students for nursing courses.
• Partner with the Director of Simulation to develop, implement, and evaluate clinical scenarios within the simulation laboratory environment to optimize student learning outcomes.
• Commit to working with diverse student and community populations while building a culturally diverse and inclusive educational environment.

Required Qualifications:

• At least three years of college/university teaching experience OR a minimum of five years of clinical teaching experience.
• Master's degree with approved board certifications, certification exams, or approved fellowships.
• Unencumbered State of Illinois Professional Registered Nurse license is required.
• At least 3 years of current nursing practice experience.
• Background in medical-surgical nursing.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Evidence of undergraduate teaching excellence.

Physical Demands:

• Ability to spend long durations of the workday sitting at a desk and working on a computer
• Ability to lift up to 15 pounds at times

Salary and FLSA Status

FLSA Status: Exempt, full-time

SALARY: $70,000 - $80,000 annually
