Job Summary
The College of Arts and Sciences seeks a Lecturer to teach undergraduate courses in Anatomy and Physiology. This non-tenure track faculty position, based in the Department of Biological & Environmental Sciences, is a 10-month academic year position. The Lecturer will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in Human Anatomy and Physiology and contributing to the department's educational mission by supporting pre-professional and health science students.
Responsibilities
Faculty- Teaching/Instructing -
Teaches a full-time instructional load of five (5) courses per semester in Anatomy & Physiology or related areas of expertise
Delivers regular course meetings, lectures, labs, and instruction aligned with course learning outcomes
Designs and develops syllabi, instructional materials, laboratory exercises, and assessments
Mentors and advises students
Other teaching responsibilities
Knowledge and ability to convey current philosophies, practices, and theories related to the academic discipline.
Faculty also contribute to the Georgia College core curriculum by teaching topical freshman (GC1Y) or sophomore seminar (GC2Y) courses. All Georgia College faculty share the responsibility of teaching our core curriculum and providing foundation courses for majors and non-majors alike.
Faculty - Professional Development -
Faculty are expected to stay current in their field.
Faculty - Service to Institution -
All faculty are expected to help the department in recruiting majors. Faculty members are expected to attend Department meetings and events.
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Master's degree in Anatomy, Physiology, Biology, or a closely related field with verified 'instructor on record' of teaching Human A&P.
Must meet SACSCOC accreditation requirements as stated in C.S. 3.7.1 (www.sacscoc.org (faculty credentials).
Required Experience
Some teaching experience at the college or university level in Human Anatomy & Physiology, or a related biomedical science.
Preferred Qualifications
Additional Preferred Qualifications
PhD in Anatomy, Physiology, Biology, or a closely related field (ABD candidates with degree completion by August 1st 2027 will be considered)
Instructor of record for college-level Anatomy & Physiology courses.
Experience teaching laboratory sections and managing laboratory environments.
Record of scholarly activity, publications, or professional development in the biomedical sciences.
Familiarity with health science program requirements and pre-professional student advising.
Proposed Salary
The proposed salary is $61,000.
