Lecturer of Business Communications
Job Summary
Georgia College & State University (GCSU) is Georgia's designated public liberal arts university. GCSU's J. Whitney Bunting College of Business and Technology is seeking a full-time, Lecturer of Business Communications to join its faculty in Fall 2026.
The successful candidate will teach the required Business Communications course with an emphasis on Professional Writing, Career Readiness, and AI Prompt Engineering, as well as International Communications and Conflict Management. This position supports the core curriculum across undergraduate business programs in Accounting, Marketing, Management, and Information Systems, serving a student body of approximately 2,100 majors.
Candidates should hold a terminal degree in Business Communications or a closely related field. This is a 10-month non tenure track contract position.
Primary purpose is to instruct academic courses and support the department, college and university goals by supporting the academic environment to benefit the educational mission of the University. The faculty employee is expected to contribute to the departments educational mission. Faculty will be expected to instruct our students in the respective disciplines at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
The faculty employee is expected to have:
1. understanding of the principles associated with teaching and learning.
2. strong communication skills and successful higher education teaching experience.
3. a developing research agenda.
Responsibilities
Faculty - Teaching/Instructing -
Teaching Responsibilities
- Full-time instructional load teaching, 4 courses Fall and 4 courses Spring, in Professional Writing and AI Prompt Engineering and other Business Communication Courses
- Regular course meetings and instruction
- Mentoring Students
- Other teaching responsibilities
Knowledge and ability to convey current philosophies, practices, and theories related to Business Communications.
Faculty - Professional Development -
Faculty are expected to conduct research and develop within the profession.
Academic Achievement/Professional Development
- Publications (editing, citations)
- Presentations at professional meetings
- Publication; peer reviewed scholarship
- Current work in circulation or in progress
- Grants received or applied for
- Membership and participation in professional organizations
- Other professional service of development activities
Ability to develop and demonstrate knowledge of current philosophies, practices, and theories related to the academic discipline.
Faculty - Service to Institution -
All faculty are expected to support the advancement of the department, college and university mission by providing service to the institution. Service may be at the department, college, university, community and disciplinary level. Duties include service on college-level and university-level committees, advising students regarding career options, and support of department-level outreach activities.
Service to the Institution

Faculty - Public Service -
Public Service is often a part of faculty service expectations and might include activities such as the following:

- Membership and participation in community organizations
- Other significant services to the community
Ability to work collegially with others in service to the broader University community.

Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
A Ph.D. (terminal degree) in Business Communications or a closely related field at time of the appointment is preferred.
A minimum of a master's degree in Business Communications or a closely related field is required.
Must meet SACSCOC accreditation requirements stated in C.S. 3.7.1 (www.sacscoc.org (faculty credentials)).
Preferred Qualifications
Faculty who demonstrate an understanding of Georgia College's mission and who are enthusiastic about working closely with high-achieving students within an academic community dedicated to the advancement of knowledge through learning and scholarship.

Proposed Salary
Minimum salary $62,000.00 to maximum salary $65,000.00.
Relocation Negotiable.
