Job Summary

The faculty member, in this 10-month lecturer position, will teach courses in economics, especially principles and freshman and sophomore seminar classes. The teaching load will be 4/4. In addition to teaching in field by providing foundation courses for majors and non-majors alike, all Georgia College faculty share the responsibility of teaching our core university core curriculum by teaching Georgia College & State University topical freshman (GC1Y) or sophomore seminar (GC2Y) courses. Faculty are also expected to develop and demonstrate knowledge of current philosophies, practices, and theories related to the academic discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Lecturer for 10-month Academic Year.
  • Full-time instructional load teaching in areas of economics, especially principles of economics and GC1Y/2Y.
  • Regular course meetings and instruction.
  • Mentoring Students.
  • All faculty are expected to support the advancement of our mission by providing high quality service at the department, college, university, community and disciplinary level.

Required Qualifications

  • Qualified candidates for the Lecturer position must have a Ph.D. in economics and identify as a teacher-scholar committed to the public liberal arts.
  • Must meet SACSCOC accreditation requirements stated in C.S. 3.7.1 (www.sacscoc.org (faculty credentials)).
  • Understanding of the principles associated with teaching and learning.
  • Successful higher education teaching experience within the candidate's area of specialization.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Dedication to working with and mentoring students.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience teaching finance or economics at the collegiate level.
  • An interest in research and a research agenda.

Proposed Salary

The beginning salary $50,000.00. Salary within this range is based on relevant years of experience.
