Location
Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.
Department Information
The Engineering Technology (ET) department offers programs with a hands-on, applied approach to engineering. Focusing more on the practical aspects of engineering than on the theoretical aspects, ET blends the application of science, engineering knowledge, and technical skills to solve problems in a variety of fields. ET is the component of engineering that specializes in design and application. Focus areas for the programs are engineering design graphics, manufacturing, applied mechanical engineering, communication systems, embedded processing and digital systems, and power systems. The ET broad educational foundation of applied engineering, project-based learning empowers students to take state-of-the-art technology and apply it in new and innovative ways to solve real-world problems.
Graduates enter the workforce in a wide variety of sectors, including manufacturing, medical devices, heavy equipment, automation, HVAC, automotive design, energy, materials engineering, communications, instrumentation, control systems, digital design, embedded systems design, power, robotics, computers, and many more. Additionally, ET graduates typically pursue professional careers in areas such as development, design, quality assurance, technical documentation, production, maintenance, test engineering, field service, technical sales, research and development, management, telecommunications, product improvement, industrial processes, and operations.
Job Summary
Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a full-time, non-tenure track faculty position as Lecturer of Mechanical Engineering Technology in the Department of Engineering Technology with a preferred start date of August 2026. This is a nine-month contracted position and is for work to be performed in the state of Georgia.
Responsibilities
- Teaching undergraduate courses in mechanical engineering technology such as CNC machining and programming, welding and fabrication, engineering design graphics, electrical principles, electric machines, controls, as well as courses such as statics, dynamics, strength of materials, fluid mechanics, materials science, thermodynamics, machine design, computer aided engineering, and/or related laboratory courses.
- Service to Department/College/University/professional community is expected.
Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of a Master's degree, or the foreign equivalent, in mechanical engineering, mechanical engineering technology, engineering management, engineering education, or a closely related discipline is required at the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
- An earned Ph.D., or the foreign equivalent, in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Engineering Education, Engineering Management.
- Professional Engineering licensure
- Record of past teaching in higher education
- Experience and expertise in CNC machining, G code, manufacturing, mechanics, engineering design graphics, SolidWorks, GD&T, welding, electric machines, fans, controls
- Knowledge of general machining operations: turning (manual/CNC), milling (manual/CNC), shaping, sawing, grinding, etc.
- Knowledge of ASME-based best-practices for engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of GD&T interpretation.
- Knowledge of ASME Y14.5
- Knowledge of tolerances and tolerance/ process relationships.
- Industry experience
