Posting End Date: Applications review will begin immediately and will be open until position is filled. At the discretion of the hiring department, this position posting may close once a sufficient number of qualified applications have been received.

Salary Range: $4,000 per class, per semester, commensurate with education, experience and qualifications.

Hours: up to 19 hours per week, exempt.

Required Application Materials:

  • Statement of experience related to teaching at the undergraduate level. (can be included in cover letter)

Preferred Application Materials

  • Sample reports of teaching ratings.

Essential Functions

  1. Teach undergraduate course within area of expertise during fall semester.
  2. Course instruction will be primarily face-to-face, and it is required that candidates be able and present to teach in that format.
  3. Course instruction may also include hybrid and online formats dependent on department needs.

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Psychology or a closely-related discipline.
  • Previous experience teaching at least one of the following: introductory psychology, introduction to clinical psychology, social psychology, biopsychology, developmental psychology, abnormal psychology, cognitive psychology, experimental psychology, or statistics.
  • Knowledge and skills in using computer programs and platforms including Microsoft Office (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint), and online classroom software (e.g., Zoom, Canvas, Blackboard, Camtasia).
  • This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UTSA and its infrastructure.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Psychology.
  • Two years of teaching experience at the undergraduate level.
  • Highly preferred training in either cognitive psychology, experimental psychology or statistics for the behavioral sciences.
  • Highly prefer persons with experience teaching both in person and online courses and willingness and availability to teach using both platforms, with the majority of courses likely being taught in person, requiring the person to be on campus most days.
  • Prefer person with good interpersonal skills and experience managing labs and/or teaching assistants.

Working Conditions

This position will be primarily located on campus or online. Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility.
