Lecturer, Rural - Clinical Skills & Simulation (EF)

UNSW Rural brings world-class medical education to rural and regional Australia, delivering the full 6-year medical course at our rural campuses. Face-to-face teaching is critical to rural program delivery as students build strong relationships with clinicians and become part of the local medical community.

UNSW’s Education Focussed (EF) roles enable academics to specialise in education and devote their time to delivering high-quality teaching. The role of Lecturer, Rural will be committed to high quality teaching with a demonstrated interest in local rural medical education.

This position holder will make a significant contribution to the undergraduate medical education program at the campus, with a strong focus on the application of ‘Basic Sciences in Clinical Medicine’ and/or ‘Multidisciplinary Care and Clinical Skills Techniques and application’ to deliver comprehensive patient care as a team in multi-disciplinary clinical environments.

The position reports to the Director of Medical Education at the identified campus and has no direct reports.

Key skills required include: A BMedMD, MBBS and a Fellowship of a Specialist Medical College and eligible for medical registration in New South Wales, and/or a qualification in a relevant health discipline. Demonstrate a well-defined teaching philosophy that inspires student learning. Prepare and deliver rurally focussed content in lectures, tutorials and small group teaching. Support student learning progression in clinical skills techniques and provide expert guidance on multidisciplinary healthcare teams. Develop and pursue local research initiatives and supervise Independent Learning Project (ILP) students. Work collaboratively with peers across the Rural Clinical Campuses and Faculty. Support the recruitment of rural students in the Rural Entry Admissions Pathway (REAP).

Demonstrated record of achievement in practical teaching and supervision at undergraduate level with a proven commitment to rural medical and health education. Demonstrated experience in large and small group teaching, and ability to apply knowledge and teaching methodologies in health education including online delivery and the use of educational technologies. Highly developed communication and organisational skills and ability to network effectively and interact with a diverse range of students and staff.

Employment Type: Part-time (3.5 hours a week). Duration: Fixed Term contract until 30th June 2026. Remuneration: $127,947 base pro-rata, plus 17% superannuation, leave loading and clinical loading. Work rights required: Candidates must hold full rights to work in Australia. Location: Port Macquarie, NSW.
