Base salary will be in the range $140,293 - $161,518 + 17% Superannuation (Academic Level C)

About This Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for a Teaching-Focused Senior Lecturer to make a meaningful impact in clinical education through leadership and collaboration. As Specialty Supervisor, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the learning experience across all four years of the program, working closely with the Principal Specialty Supervisor and engaging hospital and community care clinicians.

You will be highly visible in clinical environments, bringing your academic expertise and passion for teaching to inspire the next generation of healthcare professionals. Your leadership will support the development of others, foster integration across disciplines, and contribute to the evolution of teaching practices and policies.

We are seeking to fill a total of 0.6FTE and are open to appointing multiple part-time positions between 0.2FTE and 0.6FTE.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Deliver high-quality clinical education by serving as a professional role model, contributing to a positive student experience, and supporting teaching, supervision, assessment, and feedback across all program years to foster clinical competence and professional identity.
  • Collaborate with clinical educators including Academic Title Holders to ensure effective supervision and assessment, while acting as an educational advisor and supporting continuous improvement in curriculum and teaching practices through the Principal Specialty Supervisor.
  • Enhance learning outcomes by contributing to curriculum design and educational innovation led by the Mayne Academy and Academy for Medical Education and assisting in monitoring and improving the quality of learning and assessment within the Clinical Unit.
  • Maintain an active research profile by producing quality clinical research outputs, participating in funding applications related to clinical and teaching scholarship, and applying best-practice research methodologies to inform and improve educational delivery.

This position reports to the Head, General Practice Clinical Unit with functional oversight from the Head, Mayne Academy of General Practice.

About You

  • Medical qualification and eligibility for registration as a medical practitioner in Australia, with a specialist qualification recognised by: The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and/or the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine
  • PhD or equivalent in the disciplinary area, or an appropriate combination of professional and academic service relevant to the field.
  • An established profile in clinical teaching and/or clinical research in the discipline area.
  • Evidence of a substantial senior contribution to quality clinical teaching at undergraduate postgraduate and/or professional entry level.
  • Expert discipline knowledge and extensive experience in a general or specialist capacity, including evidence of dissemination and adoption of new and innovative clinical techniques.
  • National record of publications in reputed refereed journals and presenting at conferences with a developing international profile in conjunction with evidence of contributing to successfully seeking, obtaining and managing external research funding.
  • Active participation in the development and continuous innovation of programs, curricula and/or course material in the discipline area.
  • Record of supervision of HDR students and/or trainees in speciality training programs.
  • A growing record of meaningful internal service roles in conjunction with demonstrated leadership roles in external activities that foster links within the profession and the relevant specialty, including developing consultancies in speciality areas.

The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including right to work in Australia, education check, AHPRA registration, mandatory immunisations.
