We now have an opportunity available for passionate and experienced Academic to join our team within the College of Science and Engineering as a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer, Electrical and Electronic Engineering. 

  • Full-time; continuing
  • Academic Level B or C $112,810 - $157,465 per annum plus up to 17% employer superannuation contributions, leave loading and other generous employee benefits
  • Based at the Townsville Bebegu Yumba campus, Douglas 
  • Level of appointment and remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience

About the opportunity 

The Lecturer (Level B)/Senior Lecturer (Level C), Electrical and Electronic Engineering will lead their program of research, teaching and engagement aligned with the University’s strategic intent. The Lecturer/Senior Lecturer will build an excellent academic profile, carry out high-quality research, establish strong partnerships with stakeholders, deliver high-quality teaching, supervise research students, and make significant contributions to discipline of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, the academic group of Engineering, the College of Science and Engineering, and the University.

Applicants with expertise in renewable energy, power systems, power electronics, or related fields are invited to apply, as are applicants with skills in the application of AI to their research field. The successful candidate will be a promising early-career academic with great potential to establish a high-profile career with outstanding contributions to research, teaching, and service. The successful applicant would ideally have a good history of interdisciplinary collaboration and/or partnership with industries and/or with entrepreneurship that will help build the engineering program and engage with industries pertaining to the region.

What you can bring to the role 

  • PhD qualification or equivalent in Electrical Engineering with specialisation in renewable energy, power systems, power electronics, or a related discipline.
  • Proven ability to carry out high quality research, and a demonstrated track record of excellence in publications and research impact relative to opportunity.
  • Proven or promising track record in attracting research grants and establishing successful partnerships with industry, end-users, collaborators, or other relevant stakeholders.
  • Proven or promising capability to deliver high quality teaching using innovative, evidence-based approaches, and a capability to teach a broad range of subjects within the field of Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
  • Proven or promising capability to supervise and mentor honours and post-graduate students.
  • Proven or promising capability to contribute to the functioning of an academic team and university through administration, outreach, service, engagement, and leadership.
  • Demonstrated advanced written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Background and/or previous experience in the use of AI for power engineering and/or renewable energy/systems. (desirable)
