About the Lecturer Role (Level B)
This Lecturer in Clinical Skills position is a teaching-focused role within the SA Rural Medical Program, based in Renmark. You will deliver high-quality clinical education, with an emphasis on clinical skills training and simulation, while fostering strong relationships with rural and Indigenous communities. The role involves curriculum development, innovative teaching practices, and supporting student success in a rural health context. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on rural medical education and graduate outcomes.
- Deliver engaging clinical skills teaching and supervise students in work-integrated learning settings.
- Contribute to curriculum design, review, and continuous improvement using innovative teaching technologies.
- Provide academic support and professional advice to students, promoting their development and career readiness.
- Build and maintain partnerships with rural health practitioners and communities to support clinical education.
About You
- Current AHPRA registration and relevant clinical experience in rural medicine, plus a doctorate or equivalent professional standing (e.g., RACGP or ACRRM Fellowship).
- Demonstrated excellence in tertiary-level teaching, including clinical skills and simulation, with evidence of innovative and reflective practice.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to foster positive relationships with students, colleagues, and rural health partners.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development, curriculum enhancement, and upholding the University’s values of integrity, innovation, and student-centred learning.
About the Senior Lecturer Role (Level C)
The Senior Lecturer in Clinical Skills plays a pivotal leadership role within the South Australia Rural Medical (SARM) Program, contributing to the development of the future rural medical workforce. Based at the Renmark campus, this teaching‑specialist position focuses on delivering high‑quality clinical skills education, coordinating innovative curriculum design, and enhancing student learning through contemporary teaching practices, simulation, and work‑integrated learning models. Drawing on significant clinical expertise, the role also strengthens partnerships with health services and contributes to the broader academic, professional, and community initiatives of the College.
- Lead the design, delivery and continuous improvement of clinical skills and communication teaching within the SARM Program, incorporating innovative teaching methods and technologies
- Coordinate and contribute to curriculum planning, accreditation processes and quality assurance across medical education topics
- Support and mentor students through academic guidance, professional development, and high‑quality supervision in both simulated and clinical learning environments
- Build and maintain strong relationships with rural health partners to facilitate placements, strengthen clinical training opportunities and enhance workforce outcomes for rural South Australia
About You
- A doctorate or equivalent standing in a relevant health field, along with current AHPRA registration or eligibility, and contemporary clinical experience.
- Demonstrated excellence in tertiary teaching, including simulation‑based education, active learning approaches (e.g., TBL), and technology‑enhanced learning.
- Proven ability to lead curriculum design, development and continuous improvement to strengthen clinical competence and student engagement across early‑years medical education.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to foster productive relationships with students, colleagues and rural health service partners.
