Hours:Full Time
Contract Type:Permanent
Placed On:28th January 2026

Job Ref:CHS280

Salary: From £38,784 per annum

Please note, this post is permanent and full-time at 1 FTE.

The University of Lincoln’s School of Health and Care Sciences is seeking to appoint a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Speech and Language Therapy to support sustained growth in student numbers and the continued development of our pre-registration provision.

Our MSc Speech and Language Therapy programme has experienced significant growth since validation, consistently exceeding original recruitment assumptions. This appointment forms part of an approved investment in academic capacity to ensure high-quality teaching, strong student support, and continued alignment with Professional Statutory and Regulatory Body (PSRB) requirements.

This post sits on the Teaching, Scholarship and Professional Practice (TSPP) route and is primarily teaching-focused, with a clear expectation of engagement in scholarship and evidence-informed practice.

Lecturer

We would expect a Lecturer to:

  • Be a registered Speech and Language Therapist with current professional credibility.
  • Contribute to teaching across the SLT curriculum, including academic and practice-based learning.
  • Demonstrate a clear commitment to high-quality teaching and student support.
  • Engage with scholarship and evidence-informed practice relevant to SLT education.
  • Contribute to module delivery and assessment under guidance, and work collaboratively within the programme team.
  • Show potential and willingness to develop in areas such as curriculum design, scholarship, or leadership over time.

Senior Lecturer

In addition to the above, we would expect a Senior Lecturer to:

  • Bring significant experience in SLT education and/or advanced professional practice.
  • Take a lead role in curriculum design, module leadership, or pedagogic development.
  • Demonstrate a sustained and active engagement with scholarship, research-informed teaching, or contribution to the evidence base for the profession.
  • Provide academic leadership within the programme, including mentoring or supporting less experienced colleagues.
  • Contribute strategically to programme development, quality enhancement, and external engagement where appropriate.

We are keen to appoint an individual who can articulate how they connect teaching, professional practice, and scholarship, and who are committed to contributing positively to the academic and professional community.

The role will also support the School’s longer-term development plans, including enhanced delivery efficiency across programmes and future undergraduate provision.

Research and scholarship

We welcome applications from individuals who are interested in engaging with research and scholarship that informs teaching and curriculum development. This may include contributing to a research-informed learning environment, pedagogic innovation, or professional scholarship. The post does not carry expectations in relation to REF outputs, external grant income, or doctoral supervision.

About you

You will be a registered Speech and Language Therapist with relevant professional experience and an interest in higher education teaching. Applications are welcomed from candidates at Lecturer or Senior Lecturer level, and from those seeking flexible working or job-share arrangements, subject to service needs.

What we offer

  • A supportive, interdisciplinary academic environment
  • Protected time for scholarly activity and professional development
  • Support to complete a postgraduate qualification in higher education teaching (if required)
  • Hybrid working arrangements
