The Department of Marine Engineering is currently seeking qualified and experienced candidates for the position of Lecturer /Senior Lecturer/Instructor / Senior Instructor in: Mechanical, Mechatronics, Ordnance, Hull, Electrical and Electronics.

General Requirements: Doctor of Philosophy (PhD): Recommended, Master’s Degree: Essential, Bachelor’s Degree: Essential, Ideally minimum of 3 Years of Teaching Experience: Essential, Industry Experience: Recommended, Membership of a relevant Professional Institute (PI), e.g. Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), Energy Institute (EI), Institute of Marine Engineering Science and Technology (IMarEST): Recommended, HEA Fellowship: Recommended, Commitment to Professionalism and Ethics: Essential, Ability to Manage Modules and Courses: Essential, Good Knowledge of the UK Higher Education System: Essential, Experience in Personal Tutoring and Pastoral Care: Essential, Research Active: Essential.

Specific Requirements and Preferred Knowledge Areas: Develop comprehensive teaching materials, course outlines, assignments, and practical activities that reflect current industry practices. Stay up-to-date with industry developments and integrate new technologies and standards into the curriculum. Fluid mechanics (especially gas dynamics relevant for ballistics), Vibrations and Shock response, Applied physics of Combustion and Detonation, Ballistics and Propulsion, Weapons and Ammunition Design, Explosives and Pyrotechnics, and Guidance, Control & Electronics (for modern missiles). Control Systems, Optimisation, Robot Kinematics (Forward/Inverse), Basic Trajectory Planning, Robot Dynamics (Introduction), Robot Actuation & Sensing. Shipbuilding & Naval Architecture. Advanced Hydrodynamics & Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) WITH knowledge of AI-Driven Ship Design & Optimization. Material properties, traditional (subtractive) and advance manufacturing processes (AM), reliability, sustainability. Advanced Materials & Additive Manufacturing (AM).
