The College of Public Service at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) invites applications to establish and maintain an ongoing pool of lecturer applications from which future appointments to temporary, non-tenure track positions for the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and Master of Social Work (MSW) programs will be made.
Salary/Pay Range: $1,300 / credit hour.
Work Location: On-Site
Essential Functions
This is a part-time lecturer position, and appointments are made on a semester-by-semester basis. The person in this position will primarily teach undergraduate-level courses in Social Work, with the possibility of occasional course assignments at the graduate level as needed. The successful candidate will be prepared to teach required courses within the Social Work major including but not limited to: Introduction to Social Work; Social Work Research; Human Behavior and the Social Environment; Contemporary Issues in Social and Public Policy; Social Work Practice with Individuals, Families, and Groups; and/or Social Work Practice with Organizations and Communities. Course offerings include day and evening classes as well as the ability to teach in a variety of formats (e.g., face-to-face, hybrid, and online).
Duties include preparing syllabi, conceptualizing development, teaching tasks in accordance with Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) accreditation, and management of student course grades in the learning management system.
Qualifications
- For social work practice courses: Must have an MSW degree from a program accredited by the Council of Social Work Education. At least two-years of full-time post-MSW social work practice experience or equivalent is required.
- For non-practice courses: Must have a PhD, DSW, MSW, or master's degree in related field. Expertise specific to the course subject, as demonstrated by coursework completed (transcript) or relevant work experience (resume) is required.
- At least 9 months of teaching and/or professional training experience in Social Work, or a related discipline is preferred.
- Experience in teaching in a variety of formats (e.g., face-to-face, hybrid, and online) is preferred.
