Librarian
Job Description
The Center for Learning Resources, Library, Media, and Instructional Technology seeks a Librarian to provide reference services both in-person and online, and to collaborate with academic departments in assigned liaison areas. The Librarian will teach in the Information Literacy Program by delivering course-integrated instruction on the main campus and at other WCC locations and support the development of program activities.
The successful candidate will demonstrate foundational skills that support a pathway toward future stewardship and leadership of the Information Literacy Program, including scheduling, program assessment, marketing, facilitating information literacy meetings, and communicating best practices. Additional responsibilities include collaborating with faculty to develop course-specific instruction, creating online tutorials, LibGuides, and other instructional materials, and contributing to the integration of information literacy and AI competencies in library instruction, in alignment with the SUNY General Education Information Literacy Core Competency.
Flexibility in performing various tasks to meet the evolving needs of the library is required. Knowledge and commitment to the goals and mission of the community college and evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students required, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practice within the classroom.
Requirements
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate must possess a Master's degree (MLS or MLIS) from an ALA-accredited institution. The successful candidate for this role will have expertise in information literacy theory and practice, and knowledge of best practices in assessment, as well as demonstrated experience with spreadsheets (e.g., Excel), data analysis, and reporting. All candidates must have evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse community college student populations.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: It is strongly preferred that the candidate have a minimum of two years of information literacy instruction in an academic setting, as well as supervisory or management experience in an academic library. Demonstrated experience with instructional technologies used in academic libraries such as BrightSpace(D2L), ALMA/Primo, databases, citation management software, Teams, and Springshare is also preferred.
Additional Information
SALARY & BENEFITS: The starting salary is $75,170. Additional compensation with seniority steps maximize at a salary of $88,234. Benefits include comprehensive health coverage, a choice of defined benefit or defined contribution pension plan, generous leave benefits, and access to tax sheltered annuities and a deferred compensation plan.
POSITION EFFECTIVE: Spring 2026
WORK SCHEDULE: The work schedule is 10:00am - 6:00pm. The incumbent is required to work evenings, as assigned, and weekends.
