Licensed Clinical Social Worker - SMS-3482
The person in this position will provide social, behavioral, and mental health services as part of the Division of Developmental/Behavioral Pediatrics & Psychology. They will identify and help patients and their families address emotional and behavioral challenges impacting their functioning and medical care.
Service Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate commitment to the mission of SIU School of Medicine through excellent service, collaboration, and respect.
- Provide direct clinical services including diagnostic interviews, therapy, and behavior management training to children and adolescents with behavioral health challenges and developmental disabilities.
- Maintain a clinical practice with approximately 9 half-day clinics per week in accordance with departmental policies.
- Coordinate care with division members, consult with medical providers and schools, and counsel families on service needs.
- Develop and coordinate service plans, assist families in accessing community resources, and prepare referral materials.
- Act as a liaison between families and providers, advocate for clients' rights, and participate in interdisciplinary case conferences.
- Record clinical activities in the Electronic Health Record and maintain information about community resources.
Administration Responsibilities:
- Assist in developing and implementing policies for medical behavioral health services.
- Participate in program planning, setting standards for behavioral health services, and promoting cooperative relationships with agencies.
- Provide leadership in working arrangements with social agencies and collaborate on studies related to patients' needs.
- Investigate strategies for funding care for underserved children, including writing grants.
- Attend meetings as requested.
Teaching Responsibilities:
- Participate in clinical teaching of medical students and residents, educating them on referrals.
- Assist in developing and implementing in-service training and educational programs.
- Represent SIU Medicine Pediatrics as requested.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree from an accredited school or university in Social Work.
- Licensure as a Clinical Social Worker in the State of Illinois (or eligibility for licensure).
- Sensitive to the needs of underrepresented minority populations.
