Job Details

Life Science Research Professional in the School of Medicine, Stanford, California, United States. The Stanford University Protein and Nucleic Acid Facility in the Beckman Center is seeking a Life Science Research Professional 1 (LSRP1) to join the Genomic Analyses group. The LSRP1 will be responsible for executing genomic technology and molecular/cellular biology experiments as well as participate in general lab maintenance. The candidate must be self-motivated, detail oriented and thorough, and be capable of working both independently and in a team environment.

Ideal skills include experience in cell and molecular techniques such as Nucleic Acid QC, DNA sequencing, PCR techniques, and Pyrosequencing. Ability to gain new skills, excellent organizational and communication skills, meticulous record keeping, and ability to work in a team are required.

Duties include: Plan approach to experiments, conduct experiments, maintain records, interpret results, review literature, contribute to publications, prepare documents, assist with lab maintenance, and train new staff.

Desired Qualifications: Degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, or related field; experienced in molecular biology; computer proficiency; highly motivated; strong team player; excellent communication skills; attention to detail.

Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in related scientific field.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: General understanding of scientific principles, ability to problem solve, maintain records, general computer skills, work under deadlines, excellent organizational skills.

Physical Requirements: Frequently stand, walk, lift objects over 40 pounds, etc. Ability to work in various conditions.

Working Conditions: May require working with blood borne pathogens, hazardous materials, and use of personal protective equipment. May require extended hours.

Work Standards: Demonstrates interpersonal skills, promotes safety, complies with University policies.
