About the Department

Part of a comprehensive research university, the Department of Nutrition is housed within the Byrdine F. Lewis College of Nursing and Health Professions. Situated in the heart of downtown Atlanta, the department serves approximately 250 undergraduate and graduate students. Due to its location and prestigious reputation, the Department of Nutrition has connections to the city’s businesses, government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and clinical institutions, offering diverse opportunities for students and faculty alike.

Position Description

The Department of Nutrition in the Byrdine F. Lewis College of Nursing and Health Professions at Georgia State University is seeking applications for a limited term 9-month non-tenure track Clinical Instructor position to begin in Fall 2025. The appointment spans from August to May, with the potential for optional paid work opportunities available during June and July. This position has the potential to become a permanent full-time appointment. Primary responsibilities include serving as a counseling preceptor and participating in didactic instruction. Other expected duties include participating in scholarly activities and engaging in academic and/or professional service.

Required Experience

  • An earned graduate degree in Nutrition or closely related discipline
  • At least one year of experience working in nutrition counseling
  • At least one year of experience as a registered dietitian post-credentialing with the ability to be licensed in Georgia

Required Education

Applicants must hold a master’s degree or higher in Nutrition or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications/Experience

  • Three or more years of experience as a registered dietitian, delivering nutrition counseling to a diverse patient/client population.
  • Experience teaching Nutrition-related courses at the college-level and/or serving as a dietetic preceptor.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficiency in teaching through various instructional methods
  • Ability to foster an inclusive environment and support diverse student populations in both in-person and virtual settings
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and technological skills, with the ability to maintain accurate records
  • Demonstrated expertise in instructional technology
  • Collaborative skills to support departmental and institutional goals
