You will perform a wide range of carpentry and general maintenance tasks to support the upkeep and improvement of university buildings and facilities. This role requires a proactive, detail-oriented individual with strong carpentry skills and a commitment to high-quality work.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform carpentry repairs and installations, including doors, windows, frames, furniture, shelving, and blinds
- Conduct statutory routine inspections and maintenance of fire doors and fixtures across campus.
- Collaborate with other maintenance staff to address general facility repairs, including minor small works, painting, and flooring tasks.
- Respond to work orders promptly, ensuring timely completion of maintenance requests.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and safe condition.
- Assist with special projects, such as minor works or event setups.
- Participate in an out of hours call out rota
- Uphold high standards of health and safety, adhering to all relevant regulations and guidelines.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in carpentry/joinery, preferably in a commercial or education setting.
- Proficiency with carpentry tools, static woodworking machinery equipment and techniques.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic knowledge of related trades (e.g., painting, tiling, general maintenance) is a plus.
- Positive can do attitude
- NVQ level 3 or City & Guilds certification or apprenticeship preferred.
