Job Description
Great Basin College is recruiting for a Maintenance Repair Worker 3 for the Ely Center located in Ely, Nevada. This position will be responsible for semi-skilled maintenance duties such as carpentry and repairs, plumbing, painting, electrical, HVAC maintenance, vehicle and equipment maintenance; grounds maintenance duties such as mowing grass, pruning trees and bushes, installing and repairing irrigation systems, and snow removal; janitorial duties such as vacuuming and shampooing carpets, mopping floors, and cleaning of classrooms and restrooms; supervisory duties; and other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- This position requires two (2) years of experience performing semi-skilled work in the relevant building and/or mechanical trades; OR
- One (1) year of experience as a Maintenance Repair Worker II in Nevada State service; OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above
Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
A valid Class "C" driver's license or higher operator's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
Must be able to be insured without an SR-22 or a certificate of financial responsibility (CFR) at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
The duties of this position require exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Heavy work requires walking or standing to a significant degree and pushing and/or pulling.
Schedule
The typical schedule is Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm; this is subject to change based on organizational needs.
This position is designated as Essential Personnel. In the event of a campus emergency, special event, closure to maintain campus safety or building operations, this position may be required to work outside of regularly scheduled hours.
Compensation Grade
Grade 27
In classified service, salary is in Grade and Step. The Step is determined based on the Nevada Administrative Code. Salary placement above a Step 01 at initial appointment is determined based on the recruitment, the candidate's qualifications, internal equity and budgets. A request to accelerate salary must be approved by Human Resources and abide by the Nevada Administrative Code.

Classified Staff Grant-In-Aid Benefit
Great Basin College is proud to provide a reduced-rate tuition benefit to Classified employees and their eligible dependents. Classified employees can take up to six credits per semester at a reduced rate. Dependents of Classified staff have unlimited credits at Great Basin College, but in order to be eligible children must be unmarried and under the age of 24 and must receive at least 50% of their financial support from the employee and/or employee's spouse or domestic partner.
