Position Overview:

Georgia State University's Instructional Innovation and Technology (IIT) division is seeking a skilled professional to join our vibrant and growing team as a Manager, Application Engineering to lead the Collaboration Systems unit. Reporting to the Director, Collaboration and Identity Management, this role oversees the lifecycle of collaboration technologies ensuring seamless integration, security, and user experience across the university.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Account Management: Review project requests, consult with stakeholders, manage priorities, and monitor satisfaction. Stay up to date with the operational activities and strategic priorities of the business unit.
  • Project and Portfolio Management: Plan and coordinate project activities, identify and allocate resources, facilitate project meetings, and report project status to leadership and clients.
  • Product Management: Oversee the full lifecycle of the product line supported by the business unit—from inception to retirement.
  • Resource Management: Supervise and assign personnel to project and support activities, conduct performance evaluations, and implement improvement plans as needed.
  • Application Support: Respond to customer reports of problems, system performance anomalies, and/or general inquiries. Lead application code troubleshooting, design, programming, testing, and debugging of software patches and fixes.
  • Systems Analysis: Define system scope and objectives, analyze and document business processes, translate functional requirements and prepare detailed program specifications, and evaluate the business implications of applying technology within our operational environment.
  • Application Programming Oversight: Manage program design, coding, testing, debugging, and documentation.
  • Communication: Conduct meetings and communicate with stakeholders and leadership on project and support activities.
  • Version Control & Release Management: Ensure proper configuration and release protocols for supported software.

Qualifications:

Minimum Hiring Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and four years of related experience; or a combination of education and related experience.

Preferred Hiring Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related technical field and at least four years of related experience.
  • Enterprise-level experience with Microsoft Office 365 (e.g. Entra, Exchange Online, SharePoint (including SharePoint Development), OneDrive, Copilot, Power Platform, MS Defender, Windows PowerShell).
  • Basic understanding of DNS, Active Directory, and enterprise email systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, organizational acumen, time management, and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated self-started with a quick learning curve, willingness to learn new applications and leverage technology to solve problems, and ability to make independent decisions.
