Manager, Maintenance & Utilities

The purpose of this class is to perform professional level duties in assisting in the coordination and completion of daily operations of assigned college division or function.

Compensation within the posted range is determined by a candidate's education level and/or years of experience in the field. Generally, employees are hired in the lower third of the scale.

  1. High school diploma or equivalent. Advanced degree preferred.
  2. Formal specialized training and licensed in the operation and maintenance of HVAC, mechanical and electrical systems; as well as EPA CFC Certification. An Electrical License, Siemens Master Programmer, and HVAC Masters License preferred.
  3. Second Grade Stationary Engineers License required. First Grade Stationary Engineers License preferred.
  4. A minimum of six (6) years of progressively responsible maintenance experience in building mechanical systems, heating and cooling systems, pneumatic and digital controls and energy management, including experience with commercial boilers (minimum of 250 H.P.) and large chillers (minimum of 250 tons).
  5. Flexibility and ability to change shift when requested or during emergency situations.
  6. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record of less than five (5) points on driving record.
  7. Ability to participate in blood borne pathogens training within six (6) months of employment.
  8. Hepatitis B vaccination or a signed waiver.

Background Check:

  • Candidates may be required to successfully pass a background investigation, to include driving and criminal history evaluation.

This is an Essential Position, and the employee must be available for building emergencies, and to perform regular duties or other assigned duties at times when the campus is closed to students and non-essential staff. Subject to 24-hours standby or call-in for building emergencies. May be required to work overtime or special hours as needed or required.

  1. Supervise and direct the operations of assigned College department or division.
  2. Direct the development and maintenance of all departmental records and reports.
  3. Develop and administer departmental policies and procedures.
  4. Train and evaluate assigned staff, as required.
  5. Develop budget projections for department or division, as required.
  6. Oversee, monitor and/or control appropriations and expenditures, as required.
