Job Description
The Operations & Maintenance - Electrical Trades Team for the University of Maryland, Baltimore has an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Technical Trades Manager.

PRIMARY DUTIES
- Oversees and coordinates administrative and technical operations associated with one of the following technical trade specialties: HVAC, Plumbing, Electric or Electronic.
- Responsible for daily operational functions, supervision of staff, and quality control. Plans, supervises, and coordinates the activities of assigned personnel in the specialty trade.
- Provides technical expertise and guidance to the staff. Provides training to staff in work methods, use of tools and equipment and relevant safety precautions.
- Provides visual inspection and quality control by monitoring. Estimates material and worker requirements.
- Examines and inspects work progress, equipment and work sites to verify safety and to ensure that specifications are met. Recommends special work or necessary equipment maintenance/upgrades/designs/purchases.
- Provides day-to-day leadership and works with staff to ensure a high performance, customer-oriented work environment and support for achieving the mission of the University and the department.
- Responds to inquiries and complaints from the user departments.
- Researches and recommends applications of new operational methods, techniques and equipment.
- Schedules and coordinates activities with the user departments and divisions. Assesses needs and technical requests. Ensures the timely completion of forecasted and preventive maintenance programs.
- Participates in developing, implementing and evaluation work processes, systems and procedures to achieve University goals, objectives, and work standards.
- Reads, interprets and works from blueprints, drawings, schematics and specifications.
- Ensure a safe and compliant working environment within the electric shop by proactively identifying hazards, implementing preventive measures, conducting regular safety audits and inspections, and fostering a culture of safety through ongoing safety training and awareness programs for staff, emphasizing electrical hazard prevention and emergency response procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Technical field.
Experience: Five (5) years of experience in the Technical trades field.
Supervisory Experience: Two (2) years of direct supervision and responsibility for training, work coordination, and monitoring the work of others.
Certification/Licensure: Valid Maryland State driver's license. Technical trades license, such as HVAC or plumbing, license required. Maryland Master Electrician License required for Electrical Technical Trades Manager.
Other: Consideration may be given for a unique combination of education and experience.

HIRING RANGE: $95,000 - $103,000 per year (Commensurate with education and experience)
