Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a Market Research and Insights Manager to join Marketing and Student Recruitment, Engagement, Chancellery Division.

The Research and Insights Manager provides strategic leadership for research, analytics and insight across Marketing & Student Recruitment, supporting the Chief Marketing Officer and senior leaders with evidence-based advice that improves marketing effectiveness, recruitment performance and the student experience. The role develops and executes an integrated research and analytics roadmap, establishes robust governance and quality practices for student-related insight, and translates complex data into clear, decision-ready recommendations. The role owns brand tracking and reputation research for Marketing & Student Recruitment, working in partnership with other areas of the University to ensure brand, market and student insights are aligned, shared and effectively applied. This is a senior role requiring strong influence, strategic thinking and the ability to connect insights to action in a complex stakeholder environment. The role works closely with the Data and Analytics function in Digital Business Solutions, among other internal connections. This position reports to the Chief Marketing Officer for career planning, development, and performance expectations.

Marketing and Student Recruitment is responsible for building and protecting QUT’s brand and reputation and engaging and recruiting future students. As well as professional services provided to the university community, the Department is responsible for a variety of communication functions and oversees relevant policies, protocols and governance arrangements.

What you need to succeed

1. Education, training and/or experience equivalent to postgraduate qualifications with extensive relevant experience in higher education, student recruitment, or similarly complex customer led sectors (e.g. finance, health, digital subscriptions, government services).

2. Extensive analytics and research experience, with a strong record of leading teams or influencing across complex organisations, supported by demonstrated capability in coaching, performance management, team development and continuous improvement.

3. Skilled in building strong stakeholder partnerships, balancing competing priorities and driving uptake of insights, with a proven ability to shape strategy and influence executive decisions through clear, evidence based recommendations.

4. Strong expertise in research design and delivery across qualitative and quantitative methods, including survey and panel based research, and experience design approaches (UX and/or service design).

5. Advanced analytics capability including interpreting and communicating performance insights using data visualisation tools and applying experimentation frameworks, forecasting and predictive modelling in business contexts, and working knowledge of digital analytics and performance measurement approaches (e.g. GA4, attribution, tag management).

6. Strong understanding of data governance and quality practices including privacy, ethical use, and trusted metric definition.

7. Experience working with Salesforce CRM in a complex environment, including integration with marketing automation, digital analytics and BI tools, alongside familiarity with cloud data platforms and modern data practices (e.g. Azure, AWS, Snowflake).
