Major Duties

Under general supervision, the Mental Health Response Coordinator responds to crisis referrals, providing timely interventions, assessing risk, and connecting individuals to appropriate care. Collaboration with campus departments and external community partners is essential, along with maintaining confidential records and adhering to HIPAA guidelines.

  • Responds to referrals from campus community (administrators, faculty, staff) regarding individuals in distress.
  • Provides crisis intervention in various locations on- and off-campus that is both culturally responsive and utilizes trauma-informed practices.
  • Assesses the nature of the crisis, safety concerns, and level of risk.
  • Supports individuals in accessing and connecting to resources and the appropriate level of care.
  • Maintains highly confidential files following current campus, CSU, state, and federal guidelines.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in a related field. Upper division or graduate course work in counseling techniques, interviewing and conflict resolution where such are job-related, is preferred.
  • Equivalent to four years of progressively responsible professional student services work experience which includes experience in advising students individually and in groups, and in analysis and resolution of complex student services problems.
  • A Master's degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work or a job-related field may be substituted for one year of professional experience.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Demonstrated knowledge of crisis intervention strategies, trauma-informed care practices, and mental health case management.
  • Ability to assess crisis situations accurately, recognizing safety concerns, risk levels, and appropriate response measures. Ability to effectively collaborate and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including campus community partners and emergency response personnel.
  • Skilled in facilitating connections for individuals in crisis to essential resources and care, ensuring community safety and well-being.
  • Proficiency in maintaining confidential records in compliance with campus, CSU, state, and federal guidelines, particularly HIPAA.

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

  • The university offers an excellent benefits package, including but not limited to: medical, dental, vision, retirement & savings, tuition waiver and more.
  • Classification: 3086 / SSP IV / Grade 1
  • The anticipated HIRING RANGE: $ 6320- $ 6615 per month, dependent upon qualifications and experience. The salary range for this classification is: $ 6320 - $ 9014 per month.
  • HOURS: Full Time; 40 hours per week; Monday through Friday; working hours: 11am - 8 pm.
  • This is a Regular position with a one-year probationary period.
