JOB TITLE: Upward Bound Summer Program Foreign Language Instructor
JOB PURPOSE: Design and deliver an age-appropriate, four-week foreign language curriculum taught to multiple grade levels that encompasses a range of participant ages and learning styles. Dates of summer program (including training) are May 26th-July 3rd 2026. This is a temporary position from May 26th-July 3rd 2026. The total pay of $1800 is to be split as follows: May - $277, June - $1,385, July - $138
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide cultural experiences to contextualize & facilitate participants' understanding and use of the language, including hosting at least one cultural event.
- Connect the language to the country or countries in which it is spoken and discuss the culture in the/those location/s.
- Provide an active, student-centered learning environment.
- Must be available to teach Tuesday and Thursday 10:30am-11:30am as well as lead a cultural evening once during the summer to take place on Mondays from 6pm-8:30pm that should include activities planned by you and your students related to the culture surrounding the language you are instructing. Also attend at least 1 study hall session Mon, Wed, or Thurs. from 3pm-5pm.
- Attend all weekly academic meetings, as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Junior standing at the undergraduate level majoring in the language you will teach, or a completed minor; 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher. Successful criminal background check necessary for working with minors is required.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree

WORK LOCATION: On-campus: This position provides vital support to campus customers, and the successful candidate must be available to work and perform essential job functions on campus, understanding our location is at 7,220 feet above sea level.
