Multiplexing miRNA therapeutics for cardiac regeneration

About the Project

The Baker, Beqqali and Brittan Labs are excited to recruit a highly motivated PhD Student as part of the MRC-BHF Centre in Advanced Cardiac Therapies (REACT). This project aims to understand how to develop the concept of miRNA therapeutics by developing innovative approaches to designing strategies to enable delivery of multiple therapeutic miRNAs to cardiac cells for regenerative medicine.

The student will acquire expertise in a broad range of state-of-the-art research methods including stem-cell based models of human cardiomyocytes, RNA biology and transcriptomic analysis, functional assays of cardiomyocyte behaviour, high-throughput screening approaches, and gene therapy technologies.

As part of REACT, the student will be part of a vibrant multi-disciplinary research centre operating across King’s College London, University of Oxford and University of Edinburgh.

Applicants should hold (or about to obtain) a UK or International 1st Class or 2.1 degree or a Masters in a relevant discipline in biological or biomedical sciences.
