Fairmont State University's Town & Gown Theatre has an opening for a Musical Director for the highly anticipated summer 2026 production "Come From Away." Position Overview:

As the Musical Director, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the musical language of this production. You'll collaborate closely with our exceptional production team and company to teach and guide our mix of college and community performers in delivering a high-quality musical production. Note: performance tracks will be used for rehearsals and performances.

Minimum Expectations

Key Responsibilities:

• Teach and Rehearse Vocal Parts: Lead the cast during rehearsals and performances, ensuring a cohesive sound that aligns with the artistic vision of the director.
• Collaborative Casting: Recruit potentials actors to audition, provide valuable input on casting decisions and collaborate with the creative team on all audition-related materials.
• Music Instruction: Teach all vocal parts in the score to our dedicated volunteer actors once they are cast.
• Rehearsal Management: Work collaboratively with the production team and theatre staff to plan, execute, and generate rehearsal schedules while attending all necessary production meetings.
• Support and Implement: Attend some staging and choreography rehearsals to support the cast while implementing new production elements, when needed.
• Vocal Warmups: Lead all singers through vocal warmups before each rehearsal that includes singing as well as before each performance.
• Track Playback: Operate pre-recorded performance tracks during rehearsals and performances.
• Positive Environment: Foster a positive and professional working environment by adhering to the Town & Gown Theatre's code of conduct.

Special Conditions

Important Dates and Information:

• Auditions: Video submissions accepted through March 20th
• Callbacks: March 25-26, 2026
• First Company Meeting: Early April
• Rehearsals: Evenings, To be determined, potentially some weekends
• Technical Rehearsals: June 13-18, 2026
• Performances: June 19-21 and June 24-28
• Compensation: Competitive stipend based on experience. Dates of commitment from mid-April through June 28th, 2026. Rehearsals can vary from 2-3 nights a week, with more toward opening night. Some weekends a possibility, but can be flexible to an extent.
