Job Summary

This is a pooled posting for the position of NCAT Driver. The role involves driving tractor-trailers up to 156,000 pounds with up to three trailers on a 1.7-mile test track to support asphalt pavement research and autonomous vehicle studies. This is a two-year limited term appointment in Opelika, AL, contingent on funding.

Essential Functions

• Operate tractor-trailers on the test track for research, including precise maneuvers for autonomous systems.
• Support vehicle component and fuel economy testing.
• Monitor vehicle operations and communicate changes; ensure proper fueling.
• Construct test track using equipment like rollers, dump trucks, and loaders to meet research-grade specifications.
• Perform data collection in the lab and on-track, including asphalt testing and density measurements.
• May perform minor construction under supervision.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent, with a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A, three years MVR check, and a Medical Examiner's Certificate.

Salary Range

$35,790 - $50,100
