Description
Installs, maintains, documents and supports network, unified communications, and academic/administrative classroom/meeting room interactive presentation systems and infrastructure equipment. Conducts research, testing, and evaluation of new and proposed infrastructure technologies in support of the campus-wide Ethernet LAN/WAN infrastructure, related unified communications infrastructure technologies, and related classroom/meeting room interactive presentation systems and technologies. Communicates network, system-wide, and customer-specific related information to Office of Technology departments, the campus community, and specific customers. Ensures that the 2000 node UCM unified communication infrastructure, the 25,000 node campus-wide wired Ethernet infrastructure, the 400 classroom/meeting room presentation system and technologies, and the campus-wide wireless infrastructure footprint of approximately 4 million square feet functions properly.
Lead efforts and manage network technologies pertaining to the university Ethernet switching, routing, and Wi-Fi infrastructure. Additionally lead and manage technologies deployed within and in support of audio/video collaboration and presentation technologies within the university classroom, conference, and meeting rooms across campus building/facilitates. Assist with providing vision, leadership, and direction in the development, management, and evaluation of all university teaching and learning technology services and technologies that support teaching, learning and business needs. Assist with providing leadership and assistance in technology procedure development and implementation, project management, and planning and administration. Assist with the development, definition and communicate an instructional/learning technology services. Assists with the direction, health, and ongoing operational aspects of the campus-wide unified communication VOIP infrastructure.
Examples of Duties

- Plans installations by studying customer orders, plans, manuals, and technical specifications; ordering and gathering equipment, supplies, materials, and tools, assessing installation site; preparing and installation diagram.

- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot infrastructure hardware and software; including but not limited to operating systems, network applications, and application suites; upgrade/update infrastructure server hardware and software. Install, maintain and troubleshoot network hardware and connections, including but not limited to inter/intra building communications, routers, switches, patch cables, file server hardware, classroom and meeting room video projection equipment, etc.

- Install and provide maintenance/support for hardware and software utilized in IP communications infrastructures which adhere to TCP/IP and Internet standards such as layer 3 routing protocols (OSPP, BGP, MSDP and the like), DNS resolution troubleshooting as related to the transport and understanding of DHCP basic communication functionality, video and audio transport troubleshooting and installations (HDMI, VGA, IP, and USB connectivity troubleshooting), etc.
- Perform appropriate backup and health monitoring of infrastructure routers, switches, video/audio presentation equipment, unified communications equipment, and associated file servers and their configurations.
- Provide information to faculty, staff, and students regarding new systems or system changes that will impact how members of the Central computing community utilize network resources.
- Provide technical instruction/demonstration and training for User Services staff concerning system and network changes, including but not limited to clients, servers, file server, and network configurations.

- Create, configure, troubleshoot and update documentation on network systems and infrastructure components.
Typical Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor's degree: business, technology, educational technology, instructional technology, or related field required.
- Master's degree preferred - substitution is allowed for Master's degree.
- Education may be substituted for experience or if experience may be substituted for education. Note that equivalencies are based on the following: AA or 60 credit hours = 2 years experience; BA/BS or 120 credit hours = 4 years experience; MA/MS = 6 years experience; PhD = 8 years experience.
Experience:
- Three years experience installing, documenting, maintaining, and supporting analog and digital telephone communication endpoints, unified IP telephone communication endpoints, or video/audio including cable maintenance related activities required.
- Three years experience call center or related direct interactive customer services activities required.
- Demonstrated job history of increased autonomy to complete job related tasks and processes required.
- Three years experience installing, maintaining, documenting, and supporting telephone systems, network infrastructures, and/or classroom video/audio presentation environments of more than 500 users, experience with Cisco Systems, Cresstron, Nortel/Avaya, AMX, Poloycom or related manufactures and technologies strongly preferred.
