Description

Yale Medical School and Yale-New Haven Hospital are seeking to expand their acute neuroscience program with the addition of two neurointensivists. These positions are supported by the Division of Neurocritical Care and Emergency Neurology and will be tailored to match the overall career interests of the individual. The neurointensivists will perform clinical duties across the health system including the (1) Neurosciences ICU, (2) Medical and Surgical ICUs in the multidisciplinary care of arrest and traumatic brain injury, and (3) ICUs at our delivery network through our tele-NICU consult program.

The Yale Neurosciences Program is an internationally recognized, multidisciplinary program that brings together clinicians and investigators through strong collaborations with Neurocritical Care, Epilepsy, Vascular Neurology, Neurosurgery, Emergency Medicine, and Neuroradiology. The Neuroscience ICU at the Yale New Haven Hospital is a thriving, cutting edge 19-bed unit poised for further expansion. We employ the most advanced technologies, including a nationally recognized continuous ICU EEG program, the first portable MRI system in the world, and an active noninvasive and invasive advanced neuromonitoring program. Our core team is comprised of neuroscience nurses, advanced practice providers, as well as a neuropharmacist, and multidisciplinary trainees at all levels. In addition, we train six neurocritical care fellows in an ACME- accredited program and our team consists of clinical and scientific leaders across a breadth of disciplines that are relevant for neurocritical care.

The essential duties of these positions include (1) diagnosing and caring for inpatients with neurocritical and neurosurgical issues, (2) teaching medical students, APPs, residents and fellows, and (3) participating in academic activities.

The successful candidates will be an excellent clinician and educator, capable of leading a large team of students, residents, fellows, and advanced nurse practitioners/physician assistants from Yale Medical School and Yale New-Haven Hospital. They will enjoy collaborations with colleagues in other critical care units as well as attention to patient centered care, patient outcomes, and quality improvement supported by a robust institutional infrastructure. We are interested in recruiting individuals who have a track record of excellence and pursue it relentlessly in whatever domains they choose to develop. The Yale Medical School offers one of the largest Clinical and Translational Science Awards (CTSAs) regionally through the Yale Center for Clinical Investigation, as well as multiple opportunities for formal training.

The community of New Haven and the surrounding areas provides a beautiful landscape to settle which has something for everyone including music, theater, a foodies’ delight, beaches, boating, shoreline towns, and tons of outdoor adventure. Yale University further offers the benefits of a world-class academic environment, including collegiate events, literary and art collections, and performance art. Proximity to New York, Boston, and the rest of New England offers additional opportunities and we are happy to work with prospective faculty to provide opportunities to practice in locations that meet their needs.
