NIH-Funded Postdoctoral Position in Immune-Mediated Liver Injury and Hepatotoxicity
Job Details
An NIH-funded postdoctoral position is available in my laboratory to study immune-mediated liver injury, liver immune-tolerance, and mechanisms of hepatotoxicity, with a particular focus on pathways underlying drug-induced liver injury and immune-driven hepatic damage. I am a physician–scientist and hepatologist, and the laboratory’s research program is strongly translational, bridging mechanistic discovery with clinically relevant liver disease.
The position will focus on defining molecular and cellular mechanisms regulating innate and adaptive immune responses and cell-death pathways in the liver, using syngeneic tumor models and immune checkpoint inhibitors in mice, in vitro systems, and translational approaches in liver samples from patients. The work combines cutting-edge molecular technologies with traditional cell and molecular biology methods. Applicants are encouraged to review our recent publications for further context. We seek highly motivated, collaborative individuals with strong independent reasoning skills and excellent written and verbal communication. Experience with multicolor flow cytometry, cell isolation, tissue culture, ELISA, RT-PCR, and animal handling/work with transgenic animals is expected. Experience with single cell technologies, advanced imaging techniques, protein multiplexing or spatial transcriptomics is a plus. This position is open to recent PhD graduates or candidates nearing completion of a PhD program.
The laboratory is located in the Hoffman Medical Research Building at the University of Southern California, with access to state-of-the-art on-campus animal facilities and shared research cores, including genomics cores for single-cell studies, advanced immunology and flow cytometry platforms (analyzers, FACS, magnetic sorters), and confocal microscopy. USC’s campuses are located in the heart of Los Angeles, offering access to downtown LA, LA Live, and a vibrant academic, athletic, and artistic culture involving students, staff, and faculty across the university.
