Job Description
The College of Nursing at the University of Missouri – St. Louis seeks a Non-Tenure Track Assistant Teaching Professor with expertise as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner to support teaching, clinical education, service, and scholarship in alignment with the College’s mission and strategic priorities.
Applications are encouraged by individuals in the following area of expertise: Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, with a preference for Primary Care (PNP-PC) or Dual Certification (Primary Care and Acute Care).
Responsibilities:
- Participate in the ongoing development, implementation, evaluation, and enhancement of nursing academic programs.
- Participate in program and course revisions.
- Revise assigned courses to reflect program outcomes, AACN Essentials, and other professional standards, state board of nursing minimum standards, current evidence and best practice.
- Collaborate with emphasis area coordinators, clinical coordinators, program directors, and the Associate Dean for Academic Programs to identify the types of clinical experiences and sites needed for optimal clinical education of students.
- Teach graduate and undergraduate nursing courses as assigned.
- Supervise nursing students as assigned.
- Collaborate with clinical agencies in arranging student clinical experiences as appropriate.
- Participate in the development of academic policies affecting the admission, progression, graduation, and dismissal of students.
- Participate in the evaluation and ongoing enhancement of the curricula.
- Apply evidence from best education practices to curriculum development and teaching methodologies.
Serve the College of Nursing, University, community, and profession:
- Contribute to the mission and strategic priorities of the College of Nursing and the University of Missouri-St. Louis.
- Participate in University and College of Nursing committees, task forces, and ad hoc committees.
- Participate in community, professional activities, and scholarship as appropriate.
- Collaborate effectively with faculty and staff within the University, College of Nursing, and community to develop interprofessional academic, clinical, and research opportunities.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Doctoral degree in nursing
- Current, unencumbered RN and APRN licensure in Missouri with national certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.
- Two years of experience as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, consideration may be given to APRN’s with less than 2 years of experience that have 10+ years of RN experience in the pediatric setting.
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Ability to work with a varied group of students and colleagues.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Classroom and or clinical teaching in baccalaureate or graduate program
- Experience with instructional media and technology
- Experience with graduate-level education
- Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Primary Care or Dual certification
