NSERC Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in Advanced Nuclear Engineering
The Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science invites applications for a NSERC Tier 2 Canada Research Chair (CRC) in Advanced Nuclear Engineering. This CRC appointment opportunity is intended for emerging scholars at the rank of assistant or associate professor. Appointment is conditional on the approval by the CRC Program.
About the Role: This opportunity is open to individuals who self-identify as women or from other gender equity-seeking groups. Tier 2 CRCs are for exceptional emerging scholars with fewer than 10 years of active research. The successful candidate will be nominated for a CRC, with research aligning with NSERC eligibility. A Tier 2 CRC is tenable for five years and renewable once, with potential infrastructure support from the Canada Foundation for Innovation.
The Ideal Candidate: Ontario Tech seeks a candidate to enhance nuclear research, focusing on advanced reactor design, safety, licensing, and applications beyond electricity. The candidate should have a strong publication record, nuclear industry engagement, successful funding history, and ability to develop highly qualified personnel. They must maintain collaborative relationships and comply with funding and trade regulations. The role involves a 40% research, 40% teaching, and 20% service workload.
Qualifications and Experience:
- A PhD degree
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering
- Registered as a Professional Engineer or eligible in Ontario
- Strong potential for teaching in engineering
- Excellent English language skills
