A full-time (100% FTE) Nurse Practitioner - COM Intern position is available in the Department of Neurosurgery. This position will pair a post-graduate Nurse Practitioner with our surgical team gaining clinical hours and educational experience in the operating room, inpatient, and ambulatory settings.

Essential Functions

• Collaborate with interdisciplinary health care team caring for patients, managing both their acute and chronic health care needs.
• Demonstrate proficiency in core knowledge inclusive of assessment, treatment, and coordination of patient care.
• Order and interpret diagnostic and therapeutic tests.
• Prescribe appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities.
• Monitor the effectiveness of interventions.
• Maintain accurate medical records.
• Collaborate with other providers and members of the health care team in delivery of care and  make appropriate referrals when needed.
• Educate patients and families about medical conditions and treatment plans.
• Facilitate staff, patient, and family decision making using evidence-based practice
• Participate in research and development projects.
• Participate in education of nurse practitioners and medical students.
• Perform related duties based on departmental need.

Minimum Qualifications

• A Master's degree in Nursing and graduation from an accredited ANA approved Nurse Practitioner Program.
• National certification by ANCC or AANP.
• Acute Care certification.
• Current/Valid APRN license in the state of Ohio.

Required Experience

• Three (3) years nursing experience.
• Additional related work experience may be required depending on specialty/sub-specialty.
