A full-time (100% FTE) Nurse Practitioner - COM Intern position is available in the Department of Neurosurgery. This position will pair a post-graduate Nurse Practitioner with our surgical team gaining clinical hours and educational experience in the operating room, inpatient, and ambulatory settings.
Essential Functions
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary health care team caring for patients, managing both their acute and chronic health care needs.
- Demonstrate proficiency in core knowledge inclusive of assessment, treatment, and coordination of patient care.
- Order and interpret diagnostic and therapeutic tests.
- Prescribe appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities.
- Monitor the effectiveness of interventions.
- Maintain accurate medical records.
- Collaborate with other providers and members of the health care team in delivery of care and make appropriate referrals when needed.
- Educate patients and families about medical conditions and treatment plans.
- Facilitate staff, patient, and family decision making using evidence-based practice
- Participate in research and development projects.
- Participate in education of nurse practitioners and medical students.
- Perform related duties based on departmental need.
Minimum Qualifications
- A Master's degree in Nursing and graduation from an accredited ANA approved Nurse Practitioner Program.
- National certification by ANCC or AANP.
- Acute Care certification.
- Current/Valid APRN license in the state of Ohio.
Required Experience
- Three (3) years nursing experience.
- Additional related work experience may be required depending on specialty/sub-specialty.
